A few years ago I was at a tricky crossroads in my life. I was in a job which I wasn’t enjoying and in a relationship which really wasn’t going anywhere.
One, ordinary day I set out on an ordinary journey but on the way, I was involved in a serious car accident. The crash wrote off the car but thankfully, the other driver and I suffered only minor physical injuries. The emotional impact however, was to be another matter.
I tried to carry on with life. I bought a new car which brought me no pleasure at all. I returned to work but found the noise in the office overwhelming. I didn’t want anybody to ask anything of me. Even the slightest challenge seemed too much. My employer was not understanding and so I found myself in front of my GP. My doctor suspected that I was suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and signed me off work immediately. She also made a recommendation that would change my life, immeasurably for the better: She recommended that I see a Hypnotherapist.
I knew nothing about hypnotherapy at the time and disregarded it off hand. I put the business card in my handbag and forgot all about it.
I proceeded to go on holiday with my partner. As was the case many times before, it was a disaster and on the day I got back I decided firmly ‘something has to change’ … I remembered the card in my handbag and it was still there. I booked the earliest appointment for my first Hypnotherapy session. As my doctor had said weeks before, I figured that I’d nothing to lose … except for half an hour lying down with a cosy blanket over me. I was right.
After just 3 sessions I realised that this was what I wanted to do. It had such an impact on me, so quickly and I wanted desperately to pass that on to others. And because it works by utilising one’s own resources, it enabled me to identify my own strengths and successes. I found the strength to finally leave behind a bad relationship and the confidence to pursue a career which I believe in.
Hypnotherapy worked for me and every time I have positive feedback from a client, I am humbled and reminded just how lucky I am to do something so rewarding.
I have never looked back.
